Outdoor Activities

Within the Air Cadets there is a lot of chances to do outdoor activities. The chance to go Hill Walking, Camping or on water activities such as rafting or canoeing is a big part of the Air Cadets. Frequent camping trips to various parts of the country and sometimes abroad are available and the participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is encouraged, which is something future employers rate highly when selecting candidates for interview!

You will be taught map reading skills as part of the classigication training syllabus and you will get the opportunity to use the skills in the real world. Regular local exercises are carried out using local camp sites in Grendon and Overstone and Irchester Country Park for exercises and leadership training. After some local training camps cadets will have the oppotunity to go on camps further afield such as Snowdonia national park and the lake district.

The squadron has trained and qualified instructors in Adventure Training, climbing and First Aid, giving cadets the best all round tuition and regular chances to use and develop there skills.

Leadership Activities

Initiative tasks are used to promote leadership and team work. This is an important part of cadet training and enables cadets to develop there skills and team spirit. These include raft building, practical problem solving and assault courses.
